The AirCommander’s primary purpose is to create a series of games for the R/C pilot to play rather than just fly around shooting at each other.
There are 2 different styles of sonic combat module on the market both still being sold by Horizon Hobbies. Some of the xport emulation devices on the market will only work with the old or only the new style. The AirCommander will work with both. Also, the other xport emulation devices on the market, when used with the SCM kill the throttle for the full duration of 10 seconds. With the AirCommander, there is only one game where the throttle is killed completely, there are 4 other games where the throttle is cut to ¼ throttle, all games are cut for a selectable delay of 0 to 9 seconds, making it much more friendly for the beginner or the nitro warbird ( I don’t want my warbird losing throttle for 10 seconds)
Unlike the other xport emulators, the AirCommander keeps track of your hits and shots, upon landing after a game, it will display how many hits you took and also how many times you shot on a nice LED display.
You can use the throttle to trigger the AirCommander or an Aux channel on your radio. The AirCommander has been tested to work with JR, Futaba, Hitec and Spektrum radio systems.
As if all this were not good enough, the AirCommander module, when used with the SCM, becomes a LOST MODEL LOCATOR device. If your receiver loses contact with the transmitter for more than 5 minutes, the lights on the AirCommander will flash and the SCM will make it’s loud ‘firing’ noise until located.
